One Weekend - 2 Killer Improv Comedy Workshops led by an award-winning improv comedian of 20 years experience for Theatresports, Urban Improv, The Second City and Rock-Paper-Scissors!
BEGINNER Workshop 1.0
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 11:00am to 3:00pm
This workshop is open to anyone, and you need absolutely no experience!
Improvised comedy is FUN! Lots of fun. But it is also a great way to build confidence, improve public speaking skills, and develop positive group dynamics. It is useful in life, business, and (of course) on the stage.
In this workshop you will learn the fundamental techniques of improv comedy. Comedy is all about surprise, and when two performers are making stuff up on the spot, there are lots of surprises! This workshop will introduce you to the principles of improv, principles that you will find useful in everyday life, at work, and if you are interested in maybe one day stepping up on stage, they will be useful there too!
INTERMEDIATE WORKSHOP 2.0
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 3rd 11:00am to 3:00pm
Open to those with prior improv or acting training or experience, or have completed the Beginner Workshop.
The Motors. Improvised comedy relies on the improvisors identifying and exploiting the naturally occuring moments of comedy that arise when two improvisors step on stage together. These are the motors the power the scene, and they arise because of the surprise that comes from improvised nature of this artform. This workshop will help you identify these motors when they appears and give you tools to exploit them for the biggest laughs.
Each Workshop is for 3 hours, plus a 1 hour break. Take either or both (four hours total).
